Resumo

Women migration can reproduce the sexual division of labour, as well as translate into precarious work. With this hypothesis in mind, the present article has, as general objective, analyze the relationship between the work performed by migrant women, the sexual division of labour and precariousness, specially, in Brazil. About its specific objectives, it intendeds to: (i) elaborate a general panorama about the international migration of women in the global and Brazilian scope; (ii) verify if there are data about the activities carried out by women and if such activities reproduce the sexual division of labour; (iii) carry out a survey on the concept of precarious work; (iv) verify the relationship between international migration of women, the work performed by them and the performance of precarious work, in Brazil. The study is justified by the increase in women's participation in international migration, which consists of moving to another country to achieve better working conditions, a concept that cannot be confused with the idea of refuge, which is related to humanitarian issues. Furthermore, the need to think about the relationship between migration and sexual division of labour results from the concern about analyzing data about the activities performed by women and whether such activities are related to reproduction, such as domestic and nursing work, while work carried out by men occurs in productive and more prominent activities, which brings up the notion of a supposed division between public and private spaces. In addition to that, the work performed by women migration can result in what is understood by precarious work, such as part-time and temporary work, in contrast to the realization of what is understood by decent work, which, according to the ILO, is related to the objectives of promoting employment, guaranteeing labour rights, social dialogue and social protection. However, before verifying the presence of such a relationship, it is understood that it is essential to carry out a survey on the concept of precarious work, which was not accurate in the research carried out, despite having adopted the one pointed out elsewhere. In any case, one cannot ignore the fact that there are two groups of women, those who perform decent jobs and those who work in precarious jobs, in order to take into account aspects such as race and ethnicity, for example. As for the methodology used, the study consists of carrying out dogmatic research, based on the deductive method, using international and national bibliography, for a better understanding of the topic, which is relevant to International Labour Law. Finally, the study, as it is in an embryonic state, does not yet present final or partial results.
